Boston parents are outraged after the Department of Public Health and the public school system handed out packages of free condoms to students.
But it’s not what you think. It’s not the condoms that got parents upset; it was what was on them.
Boston’s WCVB-TV reports the 40,000 or so donated condoms had risque messaging on their labels, such as “One lucky lady” and “hump one.”
For their part in it, DPH and the school system said they did not select the packaging and are already re-distributing the condoms with more “neutral” messaging.
The condoms were given out as part of a public health program. Only high school students who received counseling about safe sex were eligible to receive them.
